Life Feels Fast, I'm Trying to Slow Down
How to reclaim those lost days and feel fulfilled not frantic.
Yesterday passed in a blur. It was the kind of day when I was rushing from one thing to the next without even noticing the stoplights I passed through. It felt like life was happening to me instead of me engaging with that. And I don’t like that.
So, I’m regrouping, working on paying better attention and being more intentional both about what I want to create and the actions I take.
On Purpose
Intentional living is about making choices on purpose—ones that reflect your values and priorities, not just habits or outside pressures. It’s not about perfection or overhauling your whole life. It’s about small, thoughtful shifts that help you live with more meaning and joy.
And get this—research from psychologists Richard Ryan and Edward Deci shows that when we live deliberately like this, in ways that support our autonomy, competence, and connection, we’re not just happier—we’re healthier and more energized too.
With Intention
Here are a few simple ways that you can try today:
Clarify your values. What truly matters most to you? No wrong answers, but it’s good to know what you care most about.
Make aligned choices. Then, take actions that align with those things.
Pause during the day. Take mini breaks to take a breath, give thanks, and then consider your next right action.
Enjoy the good feelings that emerge when you act in alignment with your values and desires.
It never feels good when life is a blur and we are disconnected from our experience, operating on autopilot. So, when you become aware and catch yourself making intentional choices, enjoy the good feelings that rise, reminding you how great it is to be alive.
Start small. Start now. Have fun and feel connected.
